The Minister for Defence, Mr Tony Killeen TD, this evening officially opened an art exhibition in Glór, Ennis, on the subject of food entitled ‘Food Art, Glorious Food Art’.
The exhibition follows on from a very successful exhibition last year on the subject of flowers entitled ‘Burst into Bloom’.
Speaking at the opening Minister Killeen said: “I am delighted to be with you today in Glór to open this very original art exhibition. Community is of great importance to Glór, Ennis, and thus the subject matter of this exhibition is the universally appealing one of food. Food has been very inspirational for artists throughout the years. The exhibition provides a great opportunity for artists to display their work to a wider public and for our community to come and spend time enjoying the art and perhaps making a purchase.”
Artists taking part in the exhibition, which runs up to 31 December 2010, include Jean Regan, Brian McMahon, Carmel Doherty, Dorothy Ledwith, Richard Sharpe, Tom Prendergast, Jean Bardon, Paul Lynam, Siobhan Hyde, Cliona Doyle, Mike O Connor, Mike Lewishom, Bernard Dowd, Mimi Kern, Adam Pomeroy and Gillian Kenny.
“I would like to congratulate the organisers on year two of a very imaginative and thought provoking art exhibition and I am sure that visitors to the exhibition will thoroughly enjoy it”, concluded Minister Killeen.
