LIT to host educational sports seminar

A seminar entitled “Looking after your Mental and Physical Health” will take place in the Millennium Theatre, Limerick Institute of Technology on Tuesday 04th March.

Primarily aimed at 16 to 19 year olds, the free event is the result of an innovative and productive partnership between the Mid West Regional Drugs Task Force (MWRDTF), Limerick Sports Partnership and Limerick Institute of Technology.

There will be two strands to this year’s seminar with a schools seminar in the morning and a second seminar aimed at over 18’s taking place in the afternoon.

Speakers lined up to address the event include Davy Fitzgerald (Clare Senior Hurling Manager), Dr. Sancha Power (MWRDTF), Bernie Carroll (Health Service Executive) and Detective Garda Sandra Heelan (An Garda Síochána).

More than 350 people from local schools and colleges attended the Seminar last year, with organisers hoping for a similar attendance next week.

Schools can register by contacting Limerick Sports Partnership on 061-333600 or by mailing lcantwell@limericksports.ie. Individuals can sign up for the over 18’s seminar by logging on to www.limerickcitysports.ie and clicking on the ‘Register Now’ button. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
