Members of the public are being asked to donate Books, DVDs and CDs to Connolly National School ahead of a fundraising Spring Sale at the school on April 5th.
Money raised during the event will go towards the cost of carrying out improvement works to the school building during the summer.
“Parents, members of the public and students of the school are invited to drop off any books, DVDs or CDs that they no longer need. The school will operate as the collection point for any donated materials from now until the end of March. All donated materials, which we hope will appeal to people of all ages, will be sold for a small fee at our Spring Sale,” explained Connolly N.S. Principal Michael Quealy.
Mr. Quealy paid tribute to the local community for its contribution to a fundraising event held before Christmas.
He added: “We recently held a clothes collection to raise funds to cover the cost of purchasing new computer equipment at the school. The response we received from the local community was huge with more than 750 euro raised from the 150 donated bags clothes received. Once again we are asking the people of Connolly and the surrounding area to show their support for the school.”
Connolly N.S., located on the main Ennis to Miltown Malbay road, was first opened in 1905. The two-teacher school currently has 46 students enrolled and is complemented by an on-site pre-school, which operates 5-days-a-week.
The Connolly N.S. Fundraising Spring Book Sale takes place on Sunday, April 5th, 2014, from 11am to 1pm. All are welcome.
